Our analysis shows that the energy and supply sector is facing a fundamental paradox. Despite record investments in green energy, global emissions continue to rise. The central, interconnected challenges are:

• Infrastructure as a Bottleneck: In countries like Denmark, the problem is no longer the price of green energy, but that the physical infrastructure – especially the power grid – is overloaded and cannot keep up. Slow approval processes worsen the problem and delay the transition.

• The Green Resource Squeeze: The transition is creating new, critical dependencies. There is a global race for the minerals needed for wind turbines and batteries, and their supply chains are geopolitically vulnerable, while the competition for land intensifies.

• The Circular Challenge: The shift to a circular economy is a necessity for supply security, but it is hampered by practical issues, complex sorting requirements, and the lack of a well-functioning market for recycled materials.

• Regulatory Pressure: As a pioneering country, Denmark is subject to a massive and complex set of EU regulations (‘Fit for 55’, ‘Clean Industrial Deal’), which creates a heavy administrative burden for companies.
