Our analysis shows that Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry are at the epicenter of a planetary polycrisis where everything is interconnected:

• Climate as a “Threat Multiplier”: Climate change is no longer a distant threat but an active force amplifying all other problems. Droughts devastate agriculture, warming oceans force fish stocks to flee, creating chaos for fisheries, and an increased risk of wildfires threatens forestry.

• Erosion of Natural Capital: The very foundation of production – healthy soil, clean water, and biodiversity – is being destroyed. Industrial agriculture depletes the soil, overfishing empties the oceans, and illegal logging ruins critical ecosystems, creating a vicious cycle of degradation.

• Systemic Waste and Lack of Credibility: The entire system is characterized by massive inefficiencies and a lack of transparency. Huge amounts of food are lost in the supply chain. A large part of the global fish catch is illegal (IUU), and a massive portion of the timber trade is likewise illegal, making it nearly impossible to know if a product is sourced legally and sustainably.

• Human Cost and Lack of Trust: The sectors are marked by dangerous working conditions and exploitation. There is a fundamental lack of credibility and transparency in the supply chains, where consumers and businesses can rarely verify if a product has been produced legally and ethically.
